Registration Tips

Registration issues mainly influence yield of multilayer circuit boards but can in some circumstances affect single and double-sided boards. To achieve good registration it is recommended that a 10 thou annular ring is used for all plated holes, this will also ensure that your design meets the requirements of ANSI/IPC-A-600-F Acceptability of Printed Boards. A 10 thou annular ring will also ensure that internal layers will not have any breakout due to registration issues with regard to the multilayer tolerance restrictions of 5 thou movement.
